Change University was founded in 2015 by Jim King (bio. below) for the purpose of inspiring college/university students to become future, global difference-makers by exposing them to current change-makers or “Champions of Change”. Jim invites Champions to his university to talk about how they are positively impacting the world by their efforts to solve persistent social problems; to teach students how to become the next generation of global difference makers; and to challenge students to step out of their comfort zone and join them in changing the world.
The for-profit Change University, LLC was created in 2018 by Jim, David Batstone and Don Batstone (bios. below) to provide meaningful work opportunities with global, purpose-driven social enterprises to individuals who are passionate about changing the world. The social enterprises are committed to solving a wide range of social problems including poverty; lack of adequate health care and education; environmental degradation; homelessness; and the like in remote, rural communities as well as in larger cities and countries all over the world.
Through these international work opportunities, participants help support and scale social enterprises in their mission of solving these troublesome social problems.

Jim King, PhD
At the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Jim helps students see how they can use their professional knowledge and skills to make a difference in the lives of others. He provides in-service learning opportunities and leads student trips to impact enterprises all over the world. Jim has traveled to over 25 countries, mostly in the developing world.
When Jim founded ChangeU in 2015, he did so in part as a tribute to his son, Jonathan, who passed away in that same year at the age of 27. Jonathan exemplified the spirit of ChangeU by making a difference around the globe. From the slums of Lima, Peru, to the hutongs of Beijing, China, to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and beyond, Jonathan impacted lives through his smile, his mind and his hands. He wanted nothing more than to impact lives, to change communities and to share his love and concern for all.
Jim has served in a variety of capacities at academic institutions including Dean of Business; Dean of Global Engagement; Director of The Global Center; director of graduate programs in information systems; chair in computer science; and study abroad coordinator.
